Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Nathan Deal voiced his openness to possible casino gambling in the state earlier this month. Now, Deal is backpedaling because of political pressure from a Christian conservative group.

Residents in Minnesota that would like to see gambling expanded to help with the state budget are pleased with the three candidates left running for Governor in the state. Two of the three are strong supporters of gambling expansion.

Land-based casinos are not the only form of gambling expanding in the state of Florida. In September, a new gambling cruise ship will set sail in Mayport.

Residents in the state of Ohio have approved casinos in the last election and state officials are hoping that the Harrah’s name allows them to compete with Indiana.

The new school year is right around the corner and 600 residents in Alabama will be out of work after VictoryLand, one of the largest gaming establishments in the state, was forced to close amidst pressure from the governor.
